The Tastiest British Columbian Cities to Visit This Summer
My favourite places to eat are often in the smallest of towns.
Hey Foodie Friends,
Summer’s here, and if you're anything like me, your suitcase is half packed and your stomach is already thinking about your next bite. After years of sniffing out the best bites across British Columbia (and beyond), I’m sharing my top 3 underrated cities to eat your way through this summer—plus tips on where to stay, what to sip, and how to actually save while you travel.
Because let’s be real: we want the flavour, not the FOMO.
1. Naramata Village
Summer in wine country isn’t complete until I have experienced a weekend in Naramata. Only 15 minutes from Penticton, it is my preferred area to stay and play in all of the Okanagan wine region.
Coffee and scones at Just Baked in Naramata Village
Lunch with a view at Poplar Grove - reservations recommended!
Dinner at Lapin Perdu at Naramata Inn and Hillside Bistro for your second night!
Sip stops:
Naramata is in the centra Okanagan Valley so you’ll typically find white wine and rosés dominating the tastings. However, many wineries also make reds, you’ll just find less of them.I loved our relaxed tasting with the wine maker at Fox & Archer Winery (currently more reds than white wines)
Tightrope Winery remains a favourite (mostly white wines)
Township 7 had a surprisingly delicious amount of bubbles to be shared but they also had a balanced red to white ratio for tastings.
Evolve Cellars is about to open this summer and has already won best sparkling wine in Canada for 2025!
🛏 My go-to for an affordable yet perfectly located place to stay is the Naramata Courtyard and suites.
🚲 Ebike your way through the historic Kettle Valley Trail - a railway that has turned into a bikers dream! Weave your way through vineyards, lake views with wineries and breweries to stop at!
🍷 Reserve a wine tour to have everything taken care of for you!

2. Revelstoke – Mountain Foodie Town on the Rise
It’s more than a ski town—Revelstoke is home to a quiet, confident food scene that’s all about quality and local flavour. You’ll find sourdough bakeries, craft cocktail dens, and alpine restaurants with serious culinary chops. It is also home to my favourite golf course - one of the oldest in British Columbia. Revelstoke is also a great spot to take kids!
Favourite spots:
Quartermaster Eatery – a rustic-modern gem inside The Explorers Society Hotel
La Baguette – where you’ll find locals grabbing espresso + baked goods
The Chesterfield – casual eats with unexpected flair
The Schoolhouse Eatery – a brunch favourite worth waking up for and is located inside a historic schoolhouse.
🛏 I loved my stay at the Revelstoke Mountain Resort by Sutton Place.
🌲 Try white water rafting or canyoning in this popular adventure destination

3. Richmond – Dumpling Heaven & Hidden Eats
Minutes from Vancouver Airport and a world away in terms of flavour. Richmond’s Dumpling Trail and night markets are reason enough to visit.
Where I always go:
HK BBQ Master – for juicy, crackly pork (and a favourite of Seth Rogen’s)
R&H Chinese Food in the Public Market – handmade soup dumplings
The Richmond Night Market – bring cash and your appetite (but beware the TikTok traps!)
Pro foodie tip: Come hungry and bring a cooler—you’ll want to stock up on sauces, buns, and take-home bites from the Public Market.
🛏 Walk to the Richmond Night Market with a stay at the River Rock

Pro tip for planning travels…
Have you used Google Flight Scanner?
This is a great way to find affordable airfares, especially if you have no set plan or just looking for a getaway…anywhere as long as it is affordable. Enable notifications so you get emails that let you know when flights are high or supremely low.
And don’t skip travel insurance—especially if you’re heading into wine country or hiking terrain. I use this one every time.
