What to eat & drink in British Columbia, Canada?
Plus some of our holiday gifting picks for foodies with discounts!
With so many non-Canadian vloggers talking about iconic Canadian foods you need to eat while in our country; dishes like poutine, Timbits, Beaver Tails and so on. It got me thinking, I don’t want my country to be known for a donut hole, and a mediocre one at that. I mean sure Tortière is delicious but for many Canadian communities, it can be hard to access if you don’t have a local French pastry shop. As a BC girl, I also know many local people who have yet to try it. So I created an antithesis vlog with a regional focus.
Canadian cuisine depends on where you are. Our culinary scene is based on historic settlement of immigrants over time and the landscape. And that’s especially true for British Columbia as well.
I also love to feature locally owned and operated restaurants. No chains! So why would I suggest eating at Tim Hortons when you can get that in Scotland or New York? Eat local. Eat what is an expression of where you’re visiting. It is a motto I like to carry with me as I travel worldwide.
And to be clear I have nothing against poutine! I know that there are some great BC locations for poutine but I wanted to focus on regional dishes, and if you’re in Quebec or a city with a heavy French population by all means eat poutine!
I would appreciate a watch on our video - simply click play and it’ll start for you. No sign in or subscription is necessary to view a Youtube video. I mention this as I came across someone who thought they needed a log in to do so.

Taryn and her new hubby swimming with a pod of dolphins on the West side of the island
I am super excited for our next videos! We will be showcasing some incredible eats on the island of Oahu. Taryn also went to the Food & Wine Festival event, Chef Morimoto’s Jade cocktail event. It was on a rooftop overlooking the ocean and city. A perfect time for the skies to open up during a torrential rain fall. November is a rainy month to visit Hawaii! But there were also beautiful days with culinary surprises! Stay tuned!

Christmas is coming and so are the baked treats!
